Before the PickiPedia:Joining and Contributing guidelines were established, PickiPedia was open to permissionless and anonymous editing and account creation. During this time, an influx of several hundred spam bots occurred.
After these bots were pruned by User:JMyles (in a rare use of administrative authority), the remaining humans and good bots which remained were considered to have been granted a "Genesis Invite", meaning that their presence on PickiPedia is not subject to the invitations framework.
