Hey. I'm Justin Myles Holmes. I usually go by "Justin", but occasionally I use my middle name, especially on the west coast. Also, my neighbors call me "J Walk" because I tend to pace up and down the block after we get to smoking blunts.
I am equal parts picker and hacker. Actually, for me, those two are really the same. My interest in traditional music and my interest in decentralized, anarchic technology seem to be precisely the same appetite. And it seems that I'm in good company.
I started pickipedia almost as an aside while I was on a solo road trip around the USA in autumn of 2025. I was hacking on a whole bunch of projects at once with fellow cryptograss hacker-pickers, and it suddenly occurred to me that, even just to keep my own thoughts in order, it might be useful to have a wiki of all the things we imagine traditional music can be in the information age.
My best bud User:RJPARTINGTONIII and I have been building things with mediawiki for over 20 years, but it's been quite a while since we took it for a spin, and the advent of LLMs made it possible to rapidly develop extensions and deploy them to satisfy particular needs (something that was always a pain point in our college days).
Naturally, I began by trolling about Cory Walker, who appears on both my records against his better judgment.
Feel free to leave me a message on my talk page for any reason. Or no reason.
Peace and persistence.
